CVE-2024-12141
Open Redirect via Callback URL Validation in WSO2 Products Allows Phishing Attacks
Description

The product fails to sufficiently validate callback URLs, allowing them to be manipulated with malicious payloads when processed through a weak regular expression or when validation is omitted. An attacker can exploit this by crafting a link that appears legitimate but redirects users to an attacker-controlled page. This redirection facilitates phishing attacks, enabling the harvesting of sensitive user information, potentially leading to unauthorized access or data theft.

CVSS Scores
The Common Vulnerability Scoring System is a standardized framework for assessing the severity of vulnerabilities in software and systems. We collect and displays CVSS scores from various sources for each CVE.
Score Version Severity Vector Exploitability Score Impact Score Source
CVSS 134c704f-9b21-4f2e-91b3-4a467353bcc0
CVSS 3.1 MEDIUM ed10eef1-636d-4fbe-9993-6890dfa878f8
Solution
Validate callback URLs rigorously to prevent manipulation and malicious redirection.
  • Implement robust validation for all callback URLs.
  • Avoid using weak regular expressions for validation.
  • Ensure validation is always performed.
  • Sanitize user-supplied URL parameters.
