CVE-2025-7039
Glib: buffer under-read on glib through glib/gfileutils.c via get_tmp_file()
Description

A flaw was found in glib. An integer overflow during temporary file creation leads to an out-of-bounds memory access, allowing an attacker to potentially perform path traversal or access private temporary file content by creating symbolic links. This vulnerability allows a local attacker to manipulate file paths and access unauthorized data. The core issue stems from insufficient validation of file path lengths during temporary file operations.

CVSS Scores
The Common Vulnerability Scoring System is a standardized framework for assessing the severity of vulnerabilities in software and systems. We collect and displays CVSS scores from various sources for each CVE.
Score Version Severity Vector Exploitability Score Impact Score Source
CVSS 3.1 LOW [email protected]
CVSS 3.1 LOW MITRE-CVE
Solution
Address integer overflow and validate file paths in temporary file creation.
  • Update glib to the latest version.
  • Review and sanitize all temporary file creation paths.
  • Implement strict bounds checking on file path lengths.
