Netgate pfSense CE through 2.9.0 php.ini Injection via Timezone Setting
Description

Netgate pfSense CE through 2.9.0 contains a php.ini injection vulnerability that allows authenticated users with General Setup privileges to inject directives by submitting an unvalidated timezone value. Solution
Inject PHP code by exploiting unvalidated timezone input in pfSense CE.
  • Update pfSense CE to a version later than 2.9.0.
  • Restrict General Setup privileges for untrusted users.
  • Sanitize all user-submitted timezone values.
  • Regenerate php.ini and restart php-fpm.
