CVE-2026-116486
Objenesis before 3.6 Type Confusion via Class Name Instantiator Cache
Description

Objenesis before 3.6 contains a type confusion vulnerability that allows code in one class loader to substitute objects into another by exploiting instantiator caching keyed on class name. When a shared ObjenesisStd instance caches instantiators by clazz.getName() in ObjenesisBase.getInstantiatorOf(), same-named classes collide, causing newInstance() to return wrong-class objects and ClassCastException failures.

Solution
Update Objenesis to version 3.6 or later to fix type confusion in instantiator caching.
  • Update Objenesis to version 3.6 or later.
  • Review class loader configurations for potential collisions.
  • Test application for unexpected ClassCastExceptions.
CWE - Common Weakness Enumeration

While CVE identifies specific instances of vulnerabilities, CWE categorizes the common flaws or weaknesses that can lead to vulnerabilities. CVE-2026-116486 is associated with the following CWEs:
