CVE-2026-116724
FLTK through 1.4.5 Heap Buffer Overflow via Fl_BMP_Image Integer Overflow
Description

FLTK through 1.4.5 contains an integer overflow vulnerability in Fl_BMP_Image::load_bmp_() that causes undersized pixel buffer allocation from file-supplied width and height. Attackers can supply a crafted BMP or ICO file with large dimensions so row decoding writes file-derived data past the heap buffer, corrupting the application heap.

Solution
Update FLTK to a version addressing the integer overflow vulnerability in BMP/ICO image loading.
  • Update FLTK to a version later than 1.4.5.
  • Apply vendor patches if available.
  • Validate image inputs rigorously.
  • Sanitize image dimensions before allocation.
CWE - Common Weakness Enumeration

While CVE identifies specific instances of vulnerabilities, CWE categorizes the common flaws or weaknesses that can lead to vulnerabilities. CVE-2026-116724 is associated with the following CWEs:

Common Attack Pattern Enumeration and Classification (CAPEC)

Common Attack Pattern Enumeration and Classification (CAPEC) stores attack patterns, which are descriptions of the common attributes and approaches employed by adversaries to exploit the CVE-2026-116724 weaknesses.
