CVE-2026-120247
FFmpeg 2.3 through 9.0.2 Huffyuv Decoder Uninitialized Heap Memory Disclosure
Description

FFmpeg 2.3 through 9.0.2 contains a use of uninitialized resource vulnerability in the Huffyuv decoder that allows attackers to leak heap memory into decoded pixels via short packed-BGR bitstreams. Attackers can craft a Huffyuv BGR24/BGRA video whose entropy data ends early, causing decode_slice() to add uninitialized s->temp[0] bytes into output frames, exposing heap contents.

Solution
Update FFmpeg to patch a vulnerability in the Huffyuv decoder that could leak heap memory.
  • Update FFmpeg to a non-vulnerable version.
  • Ensure video streams are properly validated.
CWE - Common Weakness Enumeration

While CVE identifies specific instances of vulnerabilities, CWE categorizes the common flaws or weaknesses that can lead to vulnerabilities. CVE-2026-120247 is associated with the following CWEs:

Common Attack Pattern Enumeration and Classification (CAPEC)

Common Attack Pattern Enumeration and Classification (CAPEC) stores attack patterns, which are descriptions of the common attributes and approaches employed by adversaries to exploit the CVE-2026-120247 weaknesses.
