CVE-2026-83535
Openstack-network-exporter: basic-auth uses plaintext password storage and non-constant-time comparison
Description

A flaw was found in openstack-network-exporter. When an operator configures user authentication but omits or misconfigures Transport Layer Security (TLS), the basic authentication mechanism is silently bypassed. This fail-open design allows an adjacent network attacker to access sensitive Open vSwitch (OVS) and Open Virtual Network (OVN) dataplane metrics without credentials. Consequently, an attacker can enumerate bridge names, port counters, OVN controller state, and host topology, leading to information disclosure.

CVSS Scores
The Common Vulnerability Scoring System is a standardized framework for assessing the severity of vulnerabilities in software and systems. We collect and displays CVSS scores from various sources for each CVE.
Score Version Severity Vector Exploitability Score Impact Score Source
CVSS 3.1 HIGH 53f830b8-0a3f-465b-8143-3b8a9948e749
CVSS 3.1 HIGH MITRE-CVE
CVSS 3.1 HIGH [email protected]
Solution
Ensure Transport Layer Security (TLS) is correctly configured when user authentication is enabled.
  • Configure TLS when enabling user authentication.
  • Validate authentication bypass is not possible.
  • Review network security controls.
